When I'm asked what my opinion of "larger than life" is, a few things come to mind. Clint Eastwood because he has been in motion pictures since the actual covered wagons roamed the prairies. John Candy because he never failed to make me laugh and John Wayne because he was everything that young boys wanted to be growing up. Duke, as he became known, stood for liberty, justice, decent living, truth and the American way.

Duke was my father's favorite actor. Back in the 1950s and '60s, dad and I spent countless hours in front of the TV set watching John Wayne films.

There has been tons and tons of collectibles associated with John Wayne that has been released over the last 70 or so years. John Wayne, or Duke, was an American film actor who specialized in western and war movies. However, he also acted in other roles as well. I thought I should explain who he was in the event that you have been living underground since birth. Otherwise, you have to know who Duke was.

Wayne was THE most popular western actor, or cowboy actor of his day. He starred in well over 150 feature films during his 50 or so years in the motion picture business. So it stands to reason there would be a lot of stuff out there to collect.

I started collecting his things at an early age. My collection is not as large as many fans. But I have some stuff. The only reason that I had ever wanted to travel to California was to meet John Wayne. I never got the pleasure. After his death there was no reason to go there at all. And today? Well, I stay as far away from California as possible because I don't want to get sick. But, if Duke were still alive, I'd chance it.

This blog showcases many of the items in my collection. Actually, I collect many things. Coins, guns, movie props, cars, Native American artifacts, Etc. I have started collecting Donald Trump items since his first administration. That collection is coming along pretty well.
